This was like the funniest thing I had seen in a long time...a pheasant playing dead! We were just driving along a country road and saw this pheasant in the field. When we got close to it, it flattened itself down into the snow. Once it knew that I was going to approach and take its picture...off it flew. They sure are fast birds! Never before have I seen a bird do this. Is this something they normally do? Maybe some of you hunters out there would know. Sorry for the poor photo, had to shoot fast.
