Dear Santa

Our annual visit from Santa where I am employed, my most favorite event to photograph even though taking pictures of people is way out of my comfort zone but it's so much fun to watch the kids go up and talk to Santa.

It must have been this little ones very fist time seeing Santa, she was totally mesmerized by him.  When I saw how she was looking up at him I instantly had this vision in my head of how I could process this photo, that rarely happens.

Here is the 'before' photo:

And the 'after':

What do you think???

Fresh Picked

Well, our peach tree did not disappoint. We were really worried that it would not produce much fruit due to a cold snap just as it was blooming, but it proved us wrong; that tree was loaded!  I've frozen and made peach jam from them and will be giving a lot away to family and friends.  They are super yummy!

Yesterday's Flower

This is a Cosmos from my yard, I was really surprised to see them actually come up since the seeds I threw out in the dirt were several years old.  Now I have a bunch of them growing.  This one I processed using Black and White PS actions from Paintthemoon (paintthemoon.net) and texture from Joel Olives (joelolives.com)

Here's what they look like in color. All have textures added, I just can't remember from where I have so many.

The Gardener

We were re-potting some plants yesterday afternoon and look who decided she needed to help. Snoopy comes by her name naturally, always has to be right in the middle of what you are doing.

Papa Bluebird

Papa Blue watches over the nest box which at the time were housing his 5 chicks.  They have since flown the coop and Mom and Pop are showing them the ropes, how to catch bugs and stuff.  I've seen the adults a couple of times since the chicks have fledged, hopefully they will lay their second brood in the same house.

More coffee please

None for me thanks.  I love the smell and after shooting this afternoon, my room smells amazing!  I just don't like the taste.  Here's another from today, I think it would be neat as a poster.

Processing was done with actions from paintthemoon and textures are from Kim Klassen.

Another Man's Addiction

I do not like to drink coffee, but I do LOVE the smell of it.

From the Archives

Going through and cleaning up some photos, or at least trying to.  I keep finding some and re-doing them.  Here's one I call 'Little Blue'.  I used one of Kim Klassen's textures called 'havana'.  Go check out her website!

Eagles in Abundance!

We took a drive last weekend to a couple of the lakes nearby and were amazed and the number of Bald Eagles we saw, at least 50 total at the two lakes we stopped at.  It was SO COOL!

The Survivor

We went on a road trip today to see how many Eagles we could find at the lakes.  Along the way we were stopped at a small convenience store and I saw this stray cat scrounging around in the trash.  He looks to be surviving quite well for a stray. I added a texture from Joel Olive in post processing.

We did see a lot of Eagles...pictures to come.

Squirrel Watchin'

Home sick, again! This time with the stomach flu :-(  I think I've been sick about every 2-3 weeks since Thanksgiving.  I'm really sick of being sick! Hopefully this is the last of it.

Anyway, the kitties weren't too happy with me because I didn't let them go out while I was home so they just sat at the door watching the squirrels run around in the yard.

Processed with paintthemoon Coffee House actions and tints. Check out her stuff here, it's really cool stuff!

Come Sit

We finally had some snow so I went to one of our local parks to take a few pictures.  The snow was coming down pretty good so there were not too many people out, which is what I was hoping for.   Here are a couple shots from that day.
